Discover the Heart of Horsemanship

EquiWorld: Where Riders and Horses Connect

Step into a world where the wisdom of age-old tradition flows seamlessly into the spark of modern innovation. Here, every ride becomes more than movement—it becomes a narrative written in rhythm and motion, a living story carried forward with each hoofbeat and turn of the reins.

Our Story

At EquiWorld, every whisper of the reins and every nuzzle at the fence tells a story.

Founded by Jakkie Joubert and Ruan van der Merwe, whose passion for horses and people gave life to this special place, GTEC began as a humble riding school rooted in Western values and community spirit. Jakkie has since moved on to new adventures, but her legacy of horsemanship and heart remains in every hoofbeat.

Today, Andre and Rita with Ruan and Amanda carry that torch with unwavering dedication—bringing fresh energy while honouring the traditions that make EquiWorld feel like home. Under their guidance, the centre continues to grow as a place where riders of all ages and backgrounds can discover, connect, and thrive.

Our mission remains simple:
To foster confident, conscientious riders and celebrate the remarkable bond between horse and human.

Our Core Values

Guiding Principles of EquiWorld

Respect & Understanding

We guide our riders into the subtle world of horse psychology—learning to interpret the language of ears that swivel, eyes that soften or harden, and the shifting current of energy that runs through every movement.

By understanding these quiet signals, students begin to communicate in a way horses truly recognise. It is not just about control; it is about cultivating trust, respect, and partnership. When you can “read” a horse’s emotions in its posture and expression, you step into a dialogue where trust is earned, not demanded, and where a genuine bond can flourish.

Progressive Training

We bring together the timeless art of Western horsemanship—reining with precision, navigating obstacles with calm confidence, and mastering the swift turns of barrel work—with the science of modern rider biomechanics. This fusion honours tradition while embracing innovation, teaching riders not only the skills of the arena but also how their own posture, balance, and movement shape the dialogue with the horse. It is a partnership where old-world technique meets contemporary understanding of the human body, creating harmony, efficiency, and a ride that feels effortless yet deeply connected.

Inclusivity

We open our gates to riders of every age and skill level—from the wide-eyed beginner taking their very first trot to the seasoned rider seeking refinement. Each journey is supported through personalised, one-on-one lessons that focus on individual growth, while a spirit of camaraderie thrives in our peer-to-peer encouragement. Families are especially welcome, with discounts designed to make riding together more accessible. Here, learning becomes a shared experience—between instructor and student, friends side by side in the arena, or parents & children discovering the joy of horsemanship together.
